I live near Murphy, NC. It is the first town (or last, depending upon which direction you're traveling) in southwestern North Carolina. We're located close to the center of an area defined by Knoxville and Chattanooga in Tennessee, Atlanta in Georgia, and Asheville in North Carolina.
Murphy is in a rural area in the southern Appalachians. We're located about an hour's drive from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and our region abounds in scenic splendor.
I love living here and I like to tell others about our charming little town in the mountains.
We're only a two hour drive, more or less, to all the cities I listed in the first paragraph and a much shorter drive than that to beautiful rivers, lakes, mountains, and small towns.
I have two websites that I own and manage that may be interesting to people who live in Murphy, or who may be visiting or traveling through our quiet little town.
Murphy Connections is a social networking site just for people who live in or want to visit or move to Murphy. Think of it as a mini-Facebook for our area.
Murphy Gold is a site that promotes select locally-owned small businesses (and their owners) in Murphy. Since I've been so sick the last couple of years, it has grown slower than I wanted, but now that I'm feeling better, it's starting to grow, again. Look for more information about our area and some of the best small businesses.
If I won't recommend these businesses to my family and closest friends, I won't recommend them to you.
These two sites are where I'll be concentrating my efforts in the coming months.
I invite you to visit, if you're interested in Murphy, NC and our surrounding area.
All the best,
JD
